Thursday 1st August 2019 is national Yorkshire Day. We all know Yorkshire is the best county in England. And we are delighted to take a day to celebrate everything it gives.
When you think of Yorkshire certain things come to mind. The green open space of the Yorkshire Dales, Yorkshire Tea, Whitby Harbour, York Minster and not forgetting Sean Bean. You may be forgiven for not associating Yorkshire with the vast array of performance theatres and pioneering universities we have worked with.
Our Home in Yorkshire
We may work with companies all over the UK and even further afield but we’re a Yorkshire company and proud of it. We do what we can to help our local economy with all of our design and manufacturing done from our offices and factory in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
South Yorkshire has a long history of successful businesses. Many national household names were founded in Yorkshire including Morrisons, Marks & Spencer, Tetley’s and Little Chef, but the main source of revenue has traditionally been steel.
It was the birthplace of Stainless Steel in 1913 and has been known for it ever since. In 2016/17 South Yorkshire’s speciality steel plants produced 292,000 tonnes and was sold throughout the world. It’s great we can be a part of this history and we make sure that all steel that is used for our products is from local companies. As a lot of our raw materials are, to help keep the local economy healthy.
Auditoria in the County
We have worked on a wide variety of projects in local cities and communities.
Theatres feature heavily in our work across Yorkshire. Including; Rotherham and Barnsley Civic Theatres, CAST Doncaster, Leeds Playhouse, Phoenix Theatre, and the prestigious Crucible Theatre which hosts the World Snooker Championships as well as various high-profile plays and shows.
We have also produced lecture theatre seating for the universities in the area. Including; University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam, University of Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan, and Leeds Beckett. As if this wasn’t enough, we have also worked with over 100 primary and secondary schools.
Our work doesn’t just involve theatres and schools. The Auditoria team have designed and installed projects to improve community spaces including Doncaster Dome, a multi-purpose arena. Which contains a leisure centre, sports arena, and the UK’s first-ever split-level ice-skating rink.
Now sit back and enjoy all the things Yorkshire has done, with a cup of Yorkshire Tea, obviously!
