We have been involved in some prestigious projects, both in this country and abroad, and our work on theatre seating for the ICC Wales project is another to add to this ever-growing list.
It is the largest facility of its type in the South West of the UK and the biggest convention centre to ever be built in Wales, so a bespoke and high-quality seating solution was needed for the main auditorium.
The Minister for International Relations and Welsh Language, Eluned Morgan noted that the venue will allow Wales “to compete with any venue in the UK and beyond to attract and host key events that will make a huge contribution to our economy.”
It was a further testament to our reputation for quality and service to gain this job, as we were one of a very small number of companies involved in this project that were based outside of Wales.
It was also an honour to be chosen given the future plans for the venue. ICC Wales is looking to “accommodate globally significant corporate events and association conferences.” The new venue will seek to build on the reputation that Celtic Manor has established, by hosting major events such as the Ryder Cup and the NATO summit within the last 10 years.
Bespoke Premium Theatre Seating
We were tasked with providing 1,500 high-quality theatre seats to be installed in their auditorium, and since it was a special project it had to be a special chair. We decided it was best to opt for our TS14 chair, which is one of the best in our Theatre Seat Range. However, these were then altered so that each chair incorporated a power socket with USB slots at the top of the socket. They also featured a writing tablet which folded into the arm of the chair with a very small section poking out so they are able to be pulled out when required.
ICC Wales Vice-President, Facilities and Development Russell Phillips said: “Developing and installing the seating for a 1,500 capacity auditorium theatre was no small task and we are delighted with how the venue at ICC Wales has turned out… Their expertise in this industry also helped us choose the correct seat width and foam firmness to ensure our conference delegates and theatre show-goers sit in the greatest comfort. We have had lots of great feedback on both the look and feel, and the functionality of the auditorium theatre and we would have no hesitation in recommending Auditoria Services to other venues.”
Both of these features were a first for us, but we rose to the challenge and it’s clear from their comments that they were delighted when they were delivered and installed.
